The 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy Graduation and Awards Dinner is the culminating event
where participants will be presented with Certificates of Completion and/or Participation. In addition,
special presentations will be made to the Website Designers, Product/Service Offering and Innovative
Technology Commercial, and Business Plan winners.
About the YEP Program
The El Camino College Small Business Development Center's (SBDC) Youth Entrepreneur Program
(YEP) will begin its 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The Academy will provide youth and young adults between the ages of 14 and 27 with the theory of,
and application to, the entrepreneurial way of thinking. The Academy program will aid them in the
development and operation of part time businesses while completing their high school and college
education. The objective is to make youth and young adults aware of the opportunities for becoming
owners of self-contained, successful businesses.
During the 10-week program, participants will utilize tools and materials that will lay the
foundation for business development and resource management. The program fosters the spirit of
entrepreneurship enabling participants to grow and sustain businesses in today’s competitive small
business communities.
Each session comes with a complimentary lunch and tons of fun activities to include mentors from
entertainment, fashion and beauty, technology, food, and service industries. There is no-cost for the
program.
The program is offered under the auspices of the Small Business Development Centers, which are
funded by the Small Business Administration and the California Community Colleges Economic and
Workforce Development program.
The Academy will take place at the El Camino College Business Training Center, 13430 Hawthorne
Blvd., in Hawthorne.
