Unique is a rising 11th grader and young entrepreneur, who plans on attending Spelman University to
become a neurologist and begin a private practice. In the interim, she plans to turn her favorite hobby of
drawing and making beautiful work into an art business with her primary customers being her peers.
Unique's dreams led her to join the Youth Entrepreneurial Program at El Camino College Small business
Development Center.
Unique thinks she will be a great addition to the 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy because it is an
opportunity for her to get started in business and enhance her leadership skills. She feels the program
will also equip her with more knowledge on how to be a more astute entrepreneur. She says, "it will give
me the foundation to begin my company and improve my skills as an entrepreneur." Furthermore, the
knowledge she takes away from the Academy will help her sustain her business that she plans to start
next summer.
Throughout the Academy, Unique plans to study and work hard and give a great deal of time to the lesson
and offer academic excellence, a beautiful smile, and great disposition. She anticipates the program will
be all that it says it will be. She knows that it will be an effective use of her time during the summer
and the ten Saturdays of sessions will be put to good use as a rising entrepreneur. At the end of the
program, Unique expects to have been introduced to laws and restrictions of business and financing a
business that will enable her to work on her private practice later in life.
With the appropriate guidance, Unique believes she will acquire the skills needed to establish a success
business. She says, "the program will be a lasting fantastic experience for when I get older."
