When Takara first heard of the 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy, her interest in the program was immediate. As a not so recent college graduate and a recent professional in the non-profit sector, Takara sets the bar high on excellence and personal growth. She was to become engaged in the best opportunities to maximize her potential and eventually help those around her who were not given such favor as she has been given. Although Takara current position is rewarding, she sees herself doing more than working 40 hours a week for the majority of her adult life, accomplishing someone else's mission. Takara wants to learn how to be successful doing something she is passionate about. Takara says, "after all, what could be better than being your own boss?" She understands being her own boss will take an immense amount of effort and dedication, but with her personal commitment to service and quality, she believes that she is an excellent candidate for the 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy. As an older (young) entrepreneur, Takara plans to contribute by sharing her experiences and lessons learned with the younger entrepreneurs in the program. She feels she has been fortunate to have steady mentor relationships with peers and professionals throughout her high school and college experience. As a result, Takara's outlook on how to handle adverse situations and dilemmas has been positively affected through wise counsel and genuine concern of her mentors. She is personally devoted to bringing out the best in others, especially the youth that will someday play a major role in the future that she, as well as her children, will be beneficiaries and enjoy. Takara expect to be challenged in the Academy through the exercise of developing a full business plan; something she has dreaded and procrastinated for quite some time. By sharing the vision of her business with others, she knows that she is also soliciting accountability to move forward in the development of her plan so that it doesn't, simply, end up as a dream but a working series of goals and targets. Takara looks forward to she will accomplish in and through the 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy. She can't imagine a better time than the present moment to gain the practical knowledge she will need to develop a means of self sustain ability and independence through business. Takara "thanks" the El Camino College Small Business Development Center for presenting her with such a unique prospect that will not be taken for granted. |
