Summer is here again and, as usual, there is a growing excitement in the air. The season brings with it much of the fun and adventure that everyone awaits all year, but this year, Phillip is magnifying his fun and adventure by joining the Youth Entrepreneurial Program, which is adding to the buzz. He feels this summer's YEP promises to deliver the fun and adventure of business ownership and operation to those who typically don't get the opportunity or encouragement to do so; young adults.
Phillip joined the 2008 Summer Buzz on Biz Academy, hosted by the El Camino College Small Business Development Center, because he feels that it is one of the best paths to success and personal satisfaction in owning a business. Phillip says, "I can't think of a few things I would rather be doing this summer than actively striving to build my own business with the assistance and guidance of this program."
The belief that the ownership mentality of small business creates a vested interested in the success of the local and global community, and benefit of creating employment opportunities and economic growth have been fundamental parts of his business's mission to date. Phillip thinks this same spirit will be one contribution of value that he could make to the program. Additionally, he hopes to bring to the table many of his own experiences from the context of leadership in a traditional corporate environment. Furthermore, Phillip hopes to learn new insights and techniques for applying these experiences to the development of his business.
Phillip says, "As the summer gets underway, the excitement will be amplified by the anticipation that the YEP will create an arena and atmosphere that foster enthusiasm for building business while giving back to the communities in which we live; simultaneously encourages small business as a means of expressing, in a productive and worthwhile way, our unique individual strengths, talents and interests, and that also facilitates the types of networking, mentoring, and counseling services that are vital to such an endeavor...I can't hardly wait!"
